Installing and dismantling a reactor

Ghent, chemical factory SEVESO

The caged ladder and the gantries on the reactor were dismantled by our staff. The new reactor then had to be lifted over the existing piping construction at a 30 m radius. We provided a 160 ton lifting capacity tail crane and a 700 ton lifting capacity main crane with tensioning. The limited space available to set up the 700 ton crane added a degree of difficulty. The installation and turning circle was carefully measured out by our engineers in advance and then drawn out in Autocad. A surveyor checked the foundations for evenness and, where necessary, stainless steel shim plates were used.
